Tie-Back Pullover

Pattern: Tie-Back Pullover by Heather Carlson as found in Knit Simple Magazine of Fall ‘07.

I really like this pattern. It’s definitely outside my comfort zone for clothes with the big collar and wrap-ness of it but I really do like it (I think). I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the pattern as I think the design is really flattering (v-neck, waist shaping, wrap-style, etc). This may be one of those designs that suffers from being knit for the pattern picture in the wrong yarn (like bpt!) or it might be because it is in Knit Simple. I don’t know but I think this is a great sweater… Once you get used to the big collar.

Yarns: Cascade Dolce

I love this yarn. You may remember that back in *cough* October *cough* when I started this sweater I was using a variegated Malabrigo (as seen in this post). I put a comment up on Ravelry that I was thinking of switching to a solid color yarn and the designer of the pattern actually messaged me and recommended the switch. She also recommended that I find the softest yarn I could. Very good advice. If this sweater weren’t so outrageously soft I probably would hardly ever wear it (especially since I have to iron the collar every time). Luckily it is that soft. It’s so soft that when I first wore the sweater I went straight to the yarn shop to get more of this yarn for another sweater!

Modifications: Not many. I think the only real change I made was to do turned hems for sleeve cuffs and the bottom edging instead of the rolled hems that the pattern called for. I also accidentally knit the ties way too long and I’m still considering shortening them.
