Nautilus Hat

I made this hat for a friend of mine who is moving back to L.A.
Pattern: Marnie MacLean’s Nautilus Hat
Yarn: Hand Jive Knit’s, “Nature’s Palette,” fingering weight. Two strands held together throughout
Comments: I have knit this pattern before and I absolutely love it. I will knit it again.
As for the yarn, well, I had some issues. While I was knitting with this yarn I noticed something strange, my knitting needles were turning blue! Then I realized that my needles weren’t the only thing turning blue… Whenever I worked on this hat I found that my hands turned blue everywhere the yarn was touching them. This blue color washed off my hands easily with a bit of soap. I didn’t notice any color bleeding off the hat when I washed it so I thought the whole thing rather strange.
Nonetheless I absolutely love the effect I got with this yarn and I would use it again. Adrienne has used this yarn and didn’t have the same weird hand-staining thing that I did so maybe it was just this skein.

This picture shows off the lovely colors better. I really liked the ever-so-slightly variegated effect.
