Forest Canopy Shoulder Shawl

I wore this on Thanksgiving for our family party (which by the way ROCKED thanks everyone who made food, ate food and partied it up with me, it’s gonna be hard to top that one) where it was quite well-received.

Yarn: Artfibers Ming (color 06) which is a 50/50 merino silk blend in softly variegated shades. This yarn had been sitting in my stash for what seems like ages. I bought this on a trip to San Francisco in January ’07. I guess ten months isn’t really that long but it’s such a great yarn that I can’t believe it took me so long to find the right pattern for it!Pattern: Forest Canopy Shawl by Susan Lawrence (ravelry link). This is a great pattern and I would recommend it especially as a first shawl or even a first lace project. The pattern walks you through all the steps for a very successful project (gauge in lace, yarn choice, blocking, etc). Plus the lace pattern is fun and addictive and fast!

This project was much more successful that I expected. It was a blast to knit, soft pretty yarn + equally simple and engaging pattern and now that it’s finished it is just the right size. I had my doubts as to whether I would wear the finished shawl but so far I love it!
