Something I’m Loving (not knitting)
Trail Running!
Actually more like Trail Run/Hiking or maybe Speed Hiking? I’m not sure exactly what to call it. I hit the trail and run about half the time and hike half of the time. Anyways, it’s a lot of fun whatever you call it!
This weekend I went out the road north of town to Windfall Lake Trail. It was pouring rain and I had hopes that it might be nicer out the road but it wasn’t. I got soaked but I had a blast!
Even though this is usually a knitting blog I thought I’d share some pictures from the trail:
Oso also enjoys eating blueberries. He eats them right off the bush! I tried to take a little video to prove his berry-eating prowess:

At the end of the trail there is a great cabin that can be rented for overnights.
That is a solar powered outhouse on the right
And here is reward view:
Luckily my dogs are good sports and didn’t mind the pouring rain as long as we were going for a nice long hike.
More knitting next time!

Awesome post. I love the video of Oso and the blueberries.
I miss Juneau’s cabins! Peterson Lake was always my favorite. We’ve been playing with the idea of heading back to Juneau next summer to visit family, and your pics are definitely inspiring me to make all the plans
The trail running sounds like a blast
looks like a great hike/run in the rain. glad to see you blogging again too!
Hoorah! Your blog is back. I missed reading about your adventures. This is after all, the world’s greatest blog. And I’m not just saying that becuase I’m your dad. I’m also Oso’s honorary earthly guardian. He does love his blueberries and anything else he can cram in his mouth.
Love you, kiddo.
Well, your post was super duper and then on top of that I see that your dad left an adorable comment!! Ahhh, I am happy that you are back, girl. Good luck with the trail running!
Yay for hiking/running with dogs! We took our girls on a hiking adventure today too. There aren’t any berries (that are safe) for them to eat this time of year, but Bella did find a snake digesting a toad into its mouth. (I’m glad the snake’s mouth was already full.) I love your pictures — Juneau is so beautiful rain or shine! Cheers!
Oh, Windfall Lake – Herbert Glacier – Dupont. . . that brings back memories. I used to hike in the rain in Juneau, so beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Even though I found you because of your knitting, I don’t mind at all when you post lovely entries without knitting content! I especially love your doggies, because I seem to love doggies as much as knitting. And beautiful outdoor activities? That is right there on the list. I also LOVE “speed hiking”, although I rarely get out there to do it. I can’t call it trail running because most hiking here (Utah mountains) is up, then down. So I can run up, but there is no way I can run down some of those steep rocky trails without potentially killing myself. So speed hiking it is.
Oh my goodness, Oso eating berries from the bush is fantastic!
