Alaska Politics
In recent weeks I have been receiving a lot of pm’s on Ravelry asking me what I think (and what other Alaskans think) of Sarah Palin now that she has VP nomination.
In the interest of getting everything out in the open and plugging my amazingly talented friends’ work I would like to direct anyone interested in learning more about Sarah Palin, Alaskan politics and what everyday Alaskans think about Alaskan politics to watch these short films that the AK Robotics Team made.
This first film is a “tribute” to our former governor Frank Murkowski. Murkowski was an Alaska Senator for 21 years and was the Governor of Alaska from 2002-2006. During his time as governor he did things like appoint his daughter to the senate and bought a private jet with state funds.
This next film is a response to the corruption scandal which broke in 2006 when Sarah Palin took office pledging to crack down on corruption in the Alaska State Government. At the link Pat has helpfully provided a few links to news stories about our corrupt legislators.
And finally this last film explains why Sarah Palin‘s approval rating is so high in Alaska although it doesn’t mention the “Resource Rebate” she recently provided to every Alaska resident in the form of an extra $1200 in our PFDs to help us afford rising energy costs. Just to reiterate the timeline on that one, the legislature approved the extra $1.2 billion on August 7, her nomination as VP Candidate was announced on August 29th and Alaskans who had their PFD’s direct deposited got their money on September 12 (the rest receive their money by late October).
Sarah Palin - Relatively Awesome
I think it’s very interesting to suddenly feel like Alaska really is part of the United States.
Hope you enjoyed the films!

I wonder if Gov. Palin knits?
Absolutely loved the tribute to the Honorable Frank Murkowski.
So much material out there, thanks for the work.
I had wondered…great videos.
