Time Machine Tuesday: My Favorite Socks

koigu1.jpg

Original post about these socks here and raveled here.  However they’re really just your basic sock recipe socks over 56 sts with a star toe.

Why are they my favorite socks?  They are quite simply the most comfortable socks I own.  The yarn is Koigu and even though I could not get it to do any kind of stitch pattern without pooling these socks are by far the comfiest I have had.  They are just the right weight (a little on the thick side) and soft and silky with no nylon added (that makes my feet sweat).

I love them.

I wear them all the time and even though I hand-wash them they are a little worse for wear:

A bit of felting on the heel but no signs of wearing thin or holes (phew)

Even with the heel felting I want more socks like these.

Unfortunately my LYS does not carry Koigu (yet!).  This makes me want it more so I do have a small stash of it accumulated from various trips and swaps but it’s hard not to hoard it.

Tonight I am off for a quick trip to Anchorage and the LYS there had Koigu last time I visited…  Wish me luck!

Are you going to the Far North Yarn Co? I envy you! I try to pick up Koigu whenever I’m there.
What did you take for your travel project this time?

Hi! I happen to have some Koigu that I just can’t seem to ‘embrace.’ If you like it (found here http://www.ravelry.com/people/NancyFancyPants/stash/painters-palette-premium-merino-kpppm) let me know and I’ll be happy to trade/gift it to you. I have 2 skeins.
