Finally a FO!
It seems like ages since I actually finished something.
First off though I want to thank everybody for their comments on the Octopus Mitts! It was so great to read all your great feedback. I ripped back a bit and adjusted the pattern a bit so now the longest floats are 16sts (a bit more reasonable, eh?). Hopefully I will have a finished mitt to show you soon!
Next I have a real live FO that has actually been finished for about 2 weeks but I had the flu (and then I had to catch up in school from having the flu) so it’s taken me until now to get pictures taken.
Pattern: Tie-Back Pullover by Heather Carlson as found in Knit Simple Magazine of Fall ’07.
I really like this pattern. It’s definitely outside my comfort zone for clothes with the big collar and wrap-ness of it but I really do like it (I think). I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the pattern as I think the design is really flattering (v-neck, waist shaping, wrap-style, etc). This may be one of those designs that suffers from being knit for the pattern picture in the wrong yarn (like bpt!) or it might be because it is in Knit Simple. I don’t know but I think this is a great sweater… Once you get used to the big collar.
Yarns: Cascade Dolce
I love this yarn. You may remember that back in *cough* October *cough* when I started this sweater I was using a variegated Malabrigo (as seen in this post). I put a comment up on Ravelry that I was thinking of switching to a solid color yarn and the designer of the pattern actually messaged me and recommended the switch. She also recommended that I find the softest yarn I could. Very good advice. If this sweater weren’t so outrageously soft I probably would hardly ever wear it (especially since I have to iron the collar every time). Luckily it is that soft. It’s so soft that when I first wore the sweater I went straight to the yarn shop to get more of this yarn for another sweater!
Modifications: Not many. I think the only real change I made was to do turned hems for sleeve cuffs and the bottom edging instead of the rolled hems that the pattern called for. I also accidentally knit the ties way too long and I’m still considering shortening them.

Lovely! And very flattering. I hadn’t seen that pattern before, but I like the simplicity of the shape.
Sorry to hear that you were sick, but I love the sweater! It looks so cute on you. And I think the collar is great, even if you do have to iron it…
Very nice! It looks really lovely and soft, and that green is just one of the best colors ever, I think.
It looks great on you!
Looks gorgeous! I love that green.
Really beautiful – looks great on you! I’m glad you switched to the solid colour – the green looks great. Hmm, think this might get added to my Ravelry queue…
So pretty, I am totally inspired
I am humbled by your knitting prowess! I really like this sweater, the neck line is very flattering. Classy and casual at the same time. I’m also in love with your octopus design.
Good for you for stepping out of your comfort zone, it’s very flattering – what a lovely sweater!!
It looks wonderful and flattering on you, and what a gorgeous location for the photo-shoot!
