Time Machine…Wednesday: Lace Leaf Tee

Pattern: Leaf T-Shirt by Melissa Lynn

Yarn: Elsbeth Lavold Silky Wool

Original Post in which I forecast a sunny future for this top here.

Comments: I only wore this top 1-2 times total (including the photo-shoot). In the picture you can’t really see it but this came out much too big, I think about 2″ positive ease (my swatch lied).

The pattern was not a good look for me (I have decided that I look bad in raglans) and I hated the unfinished/rolly hems. I knew I would hate the rolled hems and I knit the whole thing anyways and then when I wore it they bugged me like crazy with their rolling/unfinished look.

Also this yarn was a poor choice for this pattern. I do love the yarn, both the texture and the color but the drapiness, the too-big needle size and the positive ease all help to completely obscure the lace pattern and make for a frumpy, dumpy top.

But that is all over now:

I ripped the whole thing out and I’m repurposing the yarn into a seamless yoked sweater in the Elizabeth Zimmermann style.

I’m calling it my Zombie Sweater because it is completely brainless knitting and also because the yarn is back from the dead.

Go Alli! I’ll vicariously enjoy your adventures with the SIlky Wool. I have some of it in my stash, and I’ve yet to decide what its fate will be.
