All Herringbone All The Time
I seem to knit in sets.
Pattern: Herringbone Scarf by Allison Blevins found via Ravelry
Yarn: Malabrigo Chunky - 2 skeins
Thoughts: I tried no less than 8 different patterns before I settled on this one for this yarn. This scarf is not one I’d normally knit because it is not reversible and it curls a lot (I steam ironed it aggressively but it is still rolling). However, I was really getting sick of knitting and frogging this yarn so I soldiered on and finished it up and now that I’ve been wearing it all around (everyday) I realized that this scarf is super warm and extremely soft so now it is a favorite.
As promised, here is more herringbone:
This mitten is from a free pattern by Elli Stubenrauch who has a lovely blog Elliphantom Knits (Ravelrized here).
You may notice that this mitten looks a little big for me. That is because it is not for me. I’m not doing any x-mas/Hannukkah knitting this year (I am lame) but Lou lost one of his mittens from last year (which were so boring I didn’t even blog them) and we have had a bit of a freezing cold snap so he needed new mittens.
My herringbone is pretty subtle because I picked colors that are pretty close in tone. These mitts look really rad in high contrast colors and with pom-poms but since I’m making these for Lou and I wanted to use stash yarns, subtle it is.
Next week: A project that isn’t green!

I love me some herringbone! I’m planning to make those mittens someday too. Nice to see a finished one.
Looks like a great and cozy scarf. I too have been knitting and frogging some yarn over and over - this is another idea in the running.
Howdy Y’all,
I stumbled across an interesting knitting article. I thought you would enjoy it.
