The Seaming Begins

Today I started seaming up my Bianca’s Jacket. I have been putting this off, not because I hate seaming (I don’t, it’s fine) but because I am afraid I am going to run out of yarn. I am seaming with thread but there is still small button band to do on the fronts and I have very little yarn left. I am loathe to buy a whole other skein to do two rows of button band but it looks like I will have to. Le sigh.

In other news this is my progress on the Safari Sweater:

but I have decided that I hate it. I love the pattern (I’m going to find a different yarn for it) and the yarn is very soft but these colors, specifically the variegated nature of these colors, are not for me. No more variegated yarns for me except for socks (and maybe scarves if they are subtle). I do not like them. The pooling drives me insane and they are too busy.

In other news I have 4 skeins of lovely yellow/brown/orange variegated malabrigo for sale/swap. Comment if you are interested. I think it would make a lovely wrap or sweater (if you are not anti-pooling like I am).

Since I deemed the Safari Sweater a failure I decided to start a newer better sweater project and cast-on for the Notre Dame De Grace Pullover from the Summer ‘07 Interweave:

I love this project so far. The yarn I’m using is Cascade Lana D’Oro which is a 50/50 wool alpaca blend. I got this really cheap (50% off already low price, I think it was around $2-2.50 a skein) and it’s a great (solid) color.

To mix things up a bit I decided to knit the sleeves first. I finished one and I’m about halfway through the 2nd. I think I might make this sleeves first thing a regular feature. I used the sleeve as my swatch (hurray for no swatches!) and I’m confident I can avoid the “I hate knitting sleeves” thing where I let my sleeve-less sweater sit for 6 months (BPT I’m looking at you).

That’s about all I’ve been working on this week. I’m almost halfway done with my Modern Quilt Wrap but I made a (simple, very easy to fix) mistake on it while watching Deadwood on DVD last weekend and it has been languishing in my knitting bag ever since. Sad.

Luckily I have my newer better sweater to take its place!

Mmm…alpaca…

Great blog! All of your guys projects are wonderful. I feel like we are on the same knitting brainwaves haha. I just finish knitting Notre Dame De Grace in basically the same color and yarn blend( i used berroco ultra alpaca (50wool/50 alpaca). It was a great pretty quick knit and it comes out beautifully. Enjoy!

Stop being so good at knitting, it is intimidating!

Also, tell your mom that I only moved to Juneau in 2004, so when I say it’s weirder than anything at PT, I mean recently. I was referring more to people who complain about the last couple of seasons (even though they don’t even go see the shows). I wish I had seen those weird things she’s talking about!!!
