Fall
Sorry no post this weekend because I was here:

Berners Bay
I have been assisting with a kayak class offered through the University
Learnin the skillz
We lucked out on some awesome weather (no rain!!!) and calm seas. It was a great trip but I haven’t had much time to knit because I’ve been trying to catch up with my schoolwork after being out of town all weekend.
These socks I finished the first evening of our trip so I got to wear them kayaking all day. They were very warm and comfortable even inside my rubber boots:
Pattern: Basic Socks over 56 sts with a pointy toe
Yarn: Koigu - my first Koigu! I bought it online and the colors weren’t really what I thought but the yarn is great. Just like everyone says, nice tight twist (no splitting!) and very soft.
Yesterday I finished weaving in all the ends (there were 24) on some new fingerless mitts:
Pattern: Made it up as I went along.
Yarn: I got the gray as a present from my Grandma (thanks Grandma!) and I knew I wanted to use it for mitts but I didn’t have enough to make the whole pair. Rummaging in my stash I found a forgotten cashmere/merino blend (label lost) that seemed to go really well with the gray so I used that for the cuffs and ribbing.
I knit these as part of the Fingerless Mitts for Fall Knitalong. They knit up really fast and I’m really happy with how they came out. These are definitely the warmest mitts that I have made which is great because we are having a very chilly fall.
Speaking of fall I have another new seasonal knit:
Cap Karma hat in Malabrigo color “Autumn Forest”
I saw this version by Brooklyn Tweed and grabbed (literally) the nearest yarn and cast-on immediately. You can see in the picture that the yarn is pooling a little but the hat was also coming out a bit too big so I already ripped back my first try and now I’m through the ribbing on take #2.
More fall goodness:
Oso enjoying an autumnal dog-walk

Lovely pics as usual. That hat’s going to look great when it’s finished!
I wish it were fall here….still summer
That kyaking looks like so much fun. Glad the socks are functional as well as pretty!
it never really gets to be fall here in California–I miss that Southeast Ak fall weather. I once spent 2 weeks camping in Berner’s Bay…nice photos!
hooray! another lovely dog photo! and the other ones are lovely too. Autumn is the best season by far, i think, and I intend to copy you and make an autumn hat to celebrate.
What a lovely way to spend the weekend! Send some of that chill my way will you? It was almost 90 today!
