Ugh.
See that?
This pretty much sums up how I’ve been feeling about all of my knitting for the past few days.
And it’s not the only needle I broke either…
Lou got me a pair of knitting needles which have little lights in them so they light up and you can knit in the dark.
They are pretty cool. Supposedly they are for knitting during movies but they are very bright and I think they would be pretty annoying during a movie unless you were watching by yourself.
However: they are perfect for camping! I camp a lot and I hardly ever get any knitting done because I don’t like to “waste” my headlamp batteries. Since these needles have their own batteries I can knit to my heart’s content, save my headlamp for emergencies and impress my fellow campers.
I went for an overnight kayak trip this weekend and I started a scarf on my new needles to test them out. I somehow broke the tip off one of them (probably when I stuffed my bag into the tiny hatch of my kayak). Luckily the lights still work even without the tip and it’s not too difficult to knit with only one pointy needle.

Unfortunately the lights on the needles are only bright enough to see the stitches not save me from accidently switching the diagonal on my bias-knit scarf so I had to rip out about half of what I did on my camping trip. Ugh.
These are fingerless mitts for the Fingerless Mitts For Fall Knitalong I am using some gray handspun that my grandma got at a fair in Oregon and gave to me. It is merino but it is so crazy soft that I am using cashmere with it (the blue). I wanted to make these mitts entirely out of the gray but I only have 54 yards so I am adding some stripes of the blue which had been in my stash forever anyways.
I like what I have so far but it is too big so I have to rip it out and start over. Ugh.
I have had about 5 rows left to knit on my Bianca Jacket for the past week. I can’t seem to bring myself to finish it even though I am pretty excited about the sweater I am planning to start once it is done. Also: I am worried that I am going to run out of yarn. No picture due to lack of discernible progress. Ugh.
The only project I am not mad at is this:
I love this knit! I am savoring it though (only one block a day) or else I would probably already be finished.

I think perhaps you are breaking your needles in an effort to not have to finish/give away whatever you are knitting.
That blanket still turns me on.
Bummer!
I think the needles keep breaking because you got so strong kayaking this summer. Click-clack click-clack click-clack snap.
(still way behind on the reading)
I feel you, sister. I gave up on wooden sock needles altogether because I broke so many Brittany Birches. I even bend the metal ones pretty badly, but not so bad I can’t use them.
I’d have to quit school (and maybe my job) to make as much progress as you do.
